Hi all, I’m really enjoying the Solea beginner course! Great job!!

I just got one little question: what tempo should we use to practice all these Solea bits? I’m currently practicing with 60 BPM. Should I also aim to play everything faster (90 BMP)? And also slower? I would love to hear your recommendations on this.

I noticed that the available Compas loops start on 90 BPM. Could a slower loop be interesting for us Solea students? I’m currently using a 60 BPM loop that I found online that works quite well.

Hi Oliver,
Soleá is generally one of the slower Palos, so there's no need to strive for lots of speed. Generally I think you should play it at a tempo that feels comfortable for you and not worry about the number. But yeah, from around 60 to around 90/100 is a very realistic range.
The reason we don't have a slower Soleá loop is that in my experience it's actually much easier to get lost in the compás when it gets too slow. But I do agree that 90 is a bit quick for Soleá and we should do something about that.
If you're an iPhone user you'll see that our app does go slower. And we're working on making the app web-based so that it can be available to everyone.
