I love flamenco above all but should we learn harmony, melody harmonization, cadences,..., Are these tasks flamencas?
Have you heard about classical improvisation? It is like a blow of fresh air for classical musicians, learning the old rules of partimento and knowing how to improvise, something forbidden in classical music in the last two centuries.
Do you think that is possible in flamenco? A flamenco partimento?
None of the great flamenco players we love studied harmony, so it's definitely not necessary. But it's fun! And flamenco players improvise all the time, it's just not exactly what we sometimes think of when we think of improvising. I'm kind of thinking about doing a theory course or pamphlet or something. The hardest part (for me, anyway) is covering the basics in a way that makes sense. Are you starting to study theory, or just thinking about it?

Not yet. Do you have a sense of what, specifically, you'd want to learn? Also, why? This sounds like a silly question, but I think it gets to heart of what people want to know. To be honest, what makes getting into it hardest is that most likely we'd have to back it up and do a general music theory primer to establish the language, and that's a big can of worms (and one that's been done so many times by so many great teachers)!

I have spent some time the last year learning theory, ear training, transcribing,..., trying to be a sounded musician, understanding what is going on In a piece. I think theory is great if you don't spend more time with books than playing. I think that it is very interesting to be capable to do this things.
