Hi all! New member here, loving this community. I’m enjoying playing around with Tarantas in F#, and walking through the Bm-A7-G-F# cadence; I’m wondering if Kai (or anyone else) has other favorite/traditional chord shapes/progressions in this key? I’m also curious whether there is a name for the Tarantas position like there is for por media and por arriba. Thanks!
Hey Dylan!
Thank you for this great post and question. Kai recorded a video as a response, you guys can check it out here!

Amazing! Many thanks 🙏
Can I ask a quick question about Cantes Libres in general? My understanding is that these palos (Tarantas, Malagueñas, Rondeña, ect) do not have any kind of time signature, or compas. Essentially, there are basic melodies or "elements" that they traditionally contain- and those melodies or elements is what defines the palo.
Are these palos still modular? Would a traditional flamenco guitarist compose complete pieces for these palos, or would they be more likely to learn/compose little "bits" in the style of the palo, and then string them together, in the same fashion that we string compas, falsetas, escobilla, and letras together in the more structured palos?
Thanks-
Landon
